Grind Launches "Moonlighter" After-Hours Coworking Solution Dedicated to entrepreneurs starting a second career or side-project
NEW YORK, June 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Answering the demand of entrepreneurs and freelancers alike, Grind, a members-only collaborative workspace and coworking community with offices in New York and Chicago announces a new "Moonlighter" program. Initially available in their New York City facilities, this plan offers dedicated "after-work" and weekend hours, specifically for those who are working a second job, creating a new venture, building a side business or any other reason that might warrant the need for time outside of traditional business hours.
The Moonlighter program gives access to Grind facilities in New York Monday-Thursday from 5:00pm – Midnight, all day on Fridays, and from 8:00am-5:00pm on Saturdays for a reduced $250 membership fee. Launched June 1, there is already significant interest from potential new members to become "Moonlighters."
The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that nearly 5% of working US adults have multiple jobs. Benjamin Dyett, Co-Founder of Grind says the Moonlighter program was developed in response to a definite need among entrepreneurs for a creative and collaborative work environment for second jobs or side-projects that need to be worked on "after-hours." "We support the growing number of people who are ready to make the leap to work on their own or collaboratively with smaller groups." Rather than working from a coffee shop with spotty Wi-Fi, sneaking "company time" or finding a "space" at home or in the garage, Grind provides the best alternative.
"We're a bunch of night owls, so being able to pop-in for a few hours in the evening and join an environment that is conducive to getting 'stuff' done has been great," states "Grindist" Jamall Olukon, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Papercut Magazine. "I'm really excited about the new Moonlighter plan, because it suits our needs, while at same time providing us with more access at an attractive price point. The staff is very helpful, the spaces are great, and we love the Grind mentality."
"Grindists" come from every industry and are considered "Free Radicals". Dyett states, "There is a new respect for those with the urge to create new businesses and Grind encourages such radical thinking." The Moonlighter program allows like-minded individuals to collaborate on business plans, marketing and investment, while still maintaining their "day jobs."
Grind is a members-only collaborative workspace designed for "people who would rather work in a community than at a company". Grind aims to facilitate the leap from corporate life to "free radical" status by offering a modern and accessible coworking space. A professional platform that helps talent connect in a new way, outside the system, Grind is designed to fuel the leap from traditional corporate life by offering not only a place to work, but also a community of like-minded people who can share advice and expertise to enhance opportunities. Grind is focused on creating a true collaborative environment, featuring a proprietary data base, called Agora, an internal digitally enabled marketplace that matches Grind users according to capabilities possessed and needed.
Grind was founded in 2011 by Benjamin Dyett and his partners who believed that there needed to be a solution for entrepreneurs at every level of the business process. There are daily and monthly memberships available (as well as a Moonlighter plan!), starting at $35 per day, offering full use of facilities including free Wi-Fi, conference rooms, meeting areas, mailing address, storage, and free coffee. Workshops, seminars and additional learning opportunities are offered to members and their guests on a regular basis. Grind facilities are located in New York (29th & Park Avenue South and 39th & Broadway) and in Chicago (2. N. LaSalle St. in the Loop) with additional spaces to open by the end of the year.
