GrowLife Applauds Arizona Courts for Upholding Legalization
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Dec. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- GrowLife, Inc. (PHOT), a completely legal provider of highly effective indoor growing technologies to the blossoming marijuana industry, today applauded Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Michael Gordon 's decision to uphold Arizona's voter-approved law that decriminalizes the possession and sale of marijuana for medical uses.
"This court will not rule that Arizona, having sided with the ever-growing minority of states and having limited it to medical use, has violated public policy," read part of Gordon's ruling.
According to GrowLife, Inc. CEO Sterling C. Scott , "Judge Gordon's insightful decision on behalf of Arizona clears the way for additional dispensaries and reinforces state legalization efforts. GrowLife is positioned for this business on behalf of all of our Arizona customers, many of which are now 'shovel ready,' by which we mean they are licensed, planned and at least partial built. This is good news for our industry."
Those opposed to the legalization of medical marijuana have – and continue to – challenge the legality of the substance in courts around the United States. While the federal Controlled Substances Act classifies marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug with no legitimate medical use, state courts have ruled that they hold a different view that does not illegally undermine the law.
"The legal victory in Arizona marks another success for the marijuana legalization movement and yet another sign that federal laws are out of touch with the average American," said GrowLife Inc. CEO Sterling Scott . "A recent poll found that a full 58% of voters supported the legalization of marijuana, with 61% of those under 30 supporting legalization. Given these views, we believe the full legalization of marijuana in the United States is just a matter of time."
The Marijuana Policy Project sponsored poll used automated phone calls to survey over 1,000 voters and found that 58% of American voters think marijuana should be made legal, compared to only 39% who believe that it should be illegal. Democrats were the largest supporters with a 68% approval rate, while 61% of younger voters under 30 approved of legalization. While some other polls using live interviewers found lower support, MPP suggested that some voters may be uncomfortable telling live interviewers that they support legalization.
GrowLife's consortium of companies actively participate in all channels of commerce for distribution and sales, including operating on-line and retail outlets for direct consumer sales and the supply of specialty GrowLife company products to wholesale and retail channels. And, while supporting progressive normalization of cannabis laws, the company does not grow, sell or distribute any substances that violate U.S. law or the Federal Controlled Substances Act.
