MEXICO CITY, July 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Grupo Aeromexico, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: AEROMEX), the largest global airline in Mexico, today reported its unaudited consolidated results for the second quarter 2013.
- Grupo Aeromexico's revenues reached $9.5 billion pesos in the second quarter of 2013.
- The cost of available seat kilometers (CASK) excluding fuel decreased 2.6% year-over-year in the second quarter, the result of the Company's successful cost containment strategies.
- Second quarter EBITDAR reached $1.975 billion pesos with a 20.8% margin; a 1.4 percentage point increase, year-on-year.
- Grupo Aeromexico reported $747 million pesos in operating income; 15.1% greater than that for the same period in 2012. Operating Margin reached 7.9%; a 1.3 percentage point increase, year-on-year.
- Second quarter net income reached $322 million pesos, with a 3.4% margin. Market value adjustments for the Company's fuel hedging position resulted in a negative impact of $84 million pesos in the quarter.
- During the quarter, Grupo Aeromexico generated net operating cash of $1.316 billion pesos. Fixed asset investments, advance payments for aircraft purchases, security deposits and amortization of debt not associated with aircraft purchases worth $410 million pesos were funded from the aforementioned internally generated cash. The Group's cash balance as of June 30, 2013 was $3.149 billion pesos; $906 million pesos greater than that of the first quarter 2013.
- Grupo Aeromexico retired five aircraft from its fleet in the second quarter 2013, including four Embraer ERJ-145 and one Boeing B727-200, all under lease agreements. The Company also added two Embraer E-175 aircraft to its fleet under operating lease. Grupo Aeromexico's operative fleet consisted of 112 aircraft as of June 30, 2013.
- The Group's On-Time Departure Performance for the January-June 2013 period reached 91.5%, representing a 10.8 percentage point improvement as compared to the same timeframe last year.
