90 Minute Special Attracts 4.6 Million Viewers
One of the Top 10 Shows in Food Network History
NEW YORK, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Food Network's first awards show was
a hit with viewers (premiered Sunday, April 15 at 9 PM ET/PT), garnering
4.6 million total viewers. The special also delivered 2.1 million adults
25-54 years old, according to Nielsen Media Research.

"We are thrilled that our first awards show performed so well," said
Bruce Seidel, Senior Vice President, Program Planning and Special Planning
for Food Network. "We set out to honor innovators within the world of food
from across the country; we are excited that our viewers responded so
favorably."
The Awards which posted a 1.5 household rating and a .7 adults 25-54
demographic rating, was the second most-watched program in the network's
history. In addition, the program placed in the top 10 rated shows on the
network, on both a household and P2+ rating basis. Finally, among the 18-49
year old demographic, the show tied as the highest-rated telecast this year
among adults 18-49 and women 18-49.
World-renowned chef Emeril Lagasse served as Master of Ceremonies for
the awards, and other Food Network star presenters included: Rachael Ray,
Giada De Laurentiis, Bobby Flay, Paula Deen, Bobby Deen, Sandra Lee, Alton
Brown, and Nigella Lawson. George Duran served as the floor reporter in the
audience. Winners included: Delicious Destination of the Year - A rising
city with a fast-growing food scene - Portland, Oregon; Play With Your Food
- Art with an edible twist - Jell-O Artist, Liz Hickok; and Icy Innovations
- Inroads in Ice Cream - MooBella Ice Cream
An internal panel led by Food Network Kitchens selected the nominees
for the awards; the same panel, which represents all departments at the
network, chose the winners, in addition to five viewer's choice categories
that were determined by votes on www.foodnetwork.com. The Food Network
Awards was produced by Triage Entertainment in conjunction with Food
Network. Triage also produces the popular series Iron Chef America for the
network.
