Hill House Reaches $10 Million Milestone in Capital Campaign
EQT Gives Largest Corporate Campaign Gift
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hill House Association today announced that it has reached a $10,000,000 fundraising milestone in its capital and endowment campaign. It also announced a $500,000 gift from EQT Corporation, the campaign's largest corporate gift to date.
The campaign is only the second major fundraising effort in Hill House history. The first campaign in 1997 raised $5.1 million. The $10,000,000 milestone is a fundraising record for the 45-year-old institution and puts the Hill House at eighty percent of its $12,500,000 capital campaign goal.
Hill House has been recognized nationally and regionally for its effective model of delivering programs that impact individuals, families and the community. Campaign funding will support programs and help the Hill House upgrade and sustain its six-building campus in Pittsburgh's Hill District, including major renovations currently underway to Hill House's historic Kaufmann Center and its Elsie H. Hillman Auditorium.
"With the generous support of EQT and others, Hill House has reached a fundraising milestone and has completed the first critical phase of the capital campaign," said Evan Frazier, Hill House President and CEO. "With this momentum, the campaign is well positioned for phase two, a $2.5 million effort that will be capably led by interim president and CEO, Victor Roque," said Frazier.
Frazier will be leaving his post as Hill House President & CEO this month. Victor Roque was recently appointed interim President & CEO and will serve in this capacity until the Hill House Board of Directors completes its formal search process to replace Frazier.
"EQT's gift is historic in terms of dollar amounts, and immeasurable in terms of outcomes for the Hill House," said Greg Spencer, chairman of the Hill House Board of Directors. "The gift is momentous in the ways it will help Hill House sustain some of its most important neighborhood development programs," he said.
"The Hill House Association is a community treasure and valued resource for the thousands it impacts every year," said Murry Gerber, chairman and CEO of EQT. "We are thrilled to invest in an organization that so effectively changes lives and builds communities.
EQT Corporation is the largest natural gas producer in the Appalachian Basin, and one of the largest in the country. Headquartered in Pittsburgh and operating in four states, the company is committed to meeting the country's growing demand for clean energy, promoting safety, providing a rewarding workplace, and using its resources to enrich the communities where its employees live and work.
In addition to the EQT gift, a $100,000 donation from the PPG Industries Foundation and a $750,000 Richard King Mellon Foundation challenge match recently met by the Hill House helped push the campaign to its $10,000,000 total.
Hill House Association is a comprehensive community service provider and facilitator that meets the needs of Hill District residents and diverse constituents in the Greater Pittsburgh area. By housing health, education and human service agencies under its roof, the Hill House serves as a one-stop resource and advocate for individuals looking to improve their lives. Over the past four decades, it is estimated that the Hill House has provided care and support for more than 500,000 children, adults and seniors living in urban environments. Last year, nearly 70,000 were impacted directly or indirectly by Hill House programs.
