Homeschoolers and Parents Save the Date for 2012 Chicago Homeschool Expo
Inspirational annual event caters to the challenges and triumphs of Illinois' 50,000 homeschooled children
TINLEY PARK, Ill., Feb. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, an estimated 50,000 children in Illinois and over 2 million children nationwide participate in homeschooling. Often frustrated by traditional learning systems, a growing number of parents are searching for better opportunities for their children, doing whatever it takes to give them a first-rate education in-home. This is not always an easy undertaking for these parents, who need guidance, support, tools and resources. That's precisely why thousands will be heading to the annual Chicago Homeschool Expo (http://www.chicagohomeschoolexpo.com), May 9-11, 2012, at the Tinley Park Convention Center in Tinley Park, Ill.
"When it comes to making the most of your homeschooling decision or simply trying to determine if that's the best path for your family, the Chicago Homeschool Expo is one event that shouldn't be missed," says Randi St. Denis, who in addition to directing the Illinois event also heads up the Southeast Homeschool Expo and Alabama Homeschool Expo. "Whether you're a seasoned homeschooler, a newcomer or simply a curious parent, this event has plenty of important, inspiring information for you."
This year's Chicago Homeschool Expo will be jam-packed with highly personalized workshops and engaging seminars taught by experts and educators. Also on tap are many internationally esteemed speakers, including award-winning educational consultant Dinah Zike, author of The Big Book of Books and Activities.
The Expo is family-friendly and affordable. Parents can attend all three days or opt for one-day events such as the popular "Homeschooling for Excellence 101" conference, where homeschool parents will receive individualized answers for their own personal situations from seasoned, homeschooling parents. While moms and dads are "busy learning," kids, too, will be busy - and having loads of fun. This year, the talented Chris McBrien, David Landau and a number of other musicians, performers and storytellers will entertain and enlighten at the Homeschool KidsZone (ages 4+) and Worldview Teen Track (ages 13-18).
"This is definitely a family event, so bring everyone if you can - even friends," St. Denis says. "We strongly believe in nurturing and building up both the parents of homeschoolers and the children themselves. The Chicago Homeschool Expo truly celebrates and rewards the willingness of parents to step outside the box and fearlessly take control of their children's educations. It also gives kids a place where they can meet and bond with other homeschooled children in an encouraging, stimulating environment."
Helping to make all this possible, a wide variety of Exhibit Hall exhibitors have already signed up to support and participate in the Chicago Homeschool Expo. However, it's not too late to register. For exhibit information and sign-up, visit http://www.chicagohomeschoolexpo.com/for-exhibitors.
