Recognizing excellent entrepreneurs who lead Hong Kong's way to success

HONG KONG, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards and Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards 2009 are leading regional awards for outstanding entrepreneurship and corporate responsibility. The award presentation ceremony was held at JW Marriott Hotel today, with Hon Mrs. Sophie Leung Lau Yau-fun, GBS, JP, member of the Legislative Council, as the guest of honour.

The first "Entrepreneur of the Year" award goes to Mr. Bankee P. Kwan, Chairman and CEO of Celestial Asia Securities Holdings Limited, while the "Young Entrepreneur of the Year" award goes to Mr. Ho, Lawrence Yau Lung, Chairman and CEO of Melco International Development Limited.

Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards recognizes and honors Asian businesses for championing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship in the four categories namely: Green Leadership, Community Engagement, Investment in People, and Responsible Business Leadership. This is in line with Enterprise Asia's two founding pillars, which are Responsible Entrepreneurship and Investment in People.

Ms Ka Shi Lau, Managing Director and CEO of Bank Consortium Trust Company Limited, is named Responsible Business Leader. This award is awarded to an iconic individual who is a role model in advocating and promoting all aspects of Responsible Entrepreneurship in building the business. The individual shows exemplary leadership in adverse situations, defied temptations and greed to promote responsible practices in her enterprise and the people around her.

To better convey the message behind the awards and create a platform for business matching, a forum was held before the ceremony, featuring representatives from Bank Consortium Trust Company Limited and InvestHK as keynote speakers.
