Howdy Honda is title sponsor for Austin's 2013 BookSpring Read-a-Thon Two week program promotes literacy among Greater Austin area students
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The ability to read is one of the most important life skills children can learn. That's why programs like BookSpring's 2013 Read-a-Thon in Austin, TX are so important. Howdy Honda, an Austin TX Honda dealership, is the title sponsor of the program that will run from Jan. 28 through Feb. 8 at participating Austin schools.
During the Read-a-Thon, children read as much as they can and collect donations which are based on how much they read. The children then compete for prizes that are awarded at the end of the event. The children can register for the program through their school's team or on an individual basis if their school is not participating.
Donations collected during the Read-a-Thon go directly to BookSpring's programs that promote early literacy efforts in children, teen parents and parents of young children that are living at or below federal poverty level in the Greater Austin area. This is one of the many reasons Howdy Honda is so proud to be the title sponsor of the program in Austin.
"When people can't read, they are not free; they will always depend on someone else," said Howdy Honda General Manager Cliff Collier.
