Humana Appoints Larry Rambo Vice President of Central Region; Will Oversee Operations in Chicago, Cincinnati and Kansas City

    LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Humana Inc. (NYSE:   HUM) announced
 today the appointment of Larry Rambo as vice president of the company's
 Central Region.  The appointment is effective August 14, 2000.  In his role,
 Rambo will have responsibility for market operations in Cincinnati, Chicago
 and Kansas City where the local market presidents will report to him.
 Beginning in 2001, Humana's Milwaukee market operations will also be included.
     "Larry's extensive experience with sales, customer service, provider
 relations and networks, as well as his extensive industry knowledge, are
 important assets for Humana in these markets," said Douglas R. Carlisle,
 Humana's senior vice president of market operations.  "He will provide these
 markets with the vision and leadership necessary for Humana to increase our
 market share and profitability while insuring our members and network
 physicians have positive experiences with Humana."
     Rambo comes to Humana from PrimeCare Health Plan Inc., a United Health
 Plan's Wisconsin HMO where he was president and chief executive officer.
 While there, Rambo led the transition of PrimeCare from a small operation to
 become Wisconsin's largest and most profitable HMO.  Rambo had previously also
 served in leadership positions with Physicians Health Plan of Pennsylvania,
 Methodist Health Systems and Wausau Hospitals.
     Humana's Central Region includes market operations in Cincinnati, Chicago
 and Kansas City serving approximately 1.2 million members through HMO, PPO
 (preferred provider organization) Medicare and other health plans.
