Humana Web Site Named Best Interactive Site by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends; Company's Web Site Also Receives Two Additional Citations

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Web site for Humana Inc.
(NYSE: HUM) has earned a platinum award -- the highest offered -- for Best
Interactive Site this year from eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, a leading
 Internet publication.
In the publication's annual Internet awards for businesses, Humana's Web
site at www.humana.com also received a gold award in the Best Internet Site
category and a silver award for the Best e-Business site for HMOs and PPOs.
Humana was among nearly 400 entrants from a variety of health care
 organizations.
"These awards verify what we have believed and others have recognized for
some time, that Humana is leading the industry in e-health strategies and
delivery," said Bruce J. Goodman, senior vice president and chief information
officer for Humana. "Putting our members and physicians in the position of
being able to make informed health decisions is really the end result we want
to achieve. We are confident we can accomplish that through our e-health
initiatives. It's all about making life easier."
Goodman noted that earlier this week, eWeek Magazine, the IT industry's
leading news weekly, named Humana the 34th most Internet-savvy company across
 all businesses.
Through its Web site and through and its partnerships with WebMD, Oracle,
EDS, Microsoft and TriZetto, Humana has enabled its members, physicians and
employer groups to take charge of their health through timely, practical
information supplied via the Internet. Millions of Humana members now have
the ability to access health information that can have a positive impact on
their lives. Selecting physicians, ordering ID cards and accessing claims
information are but a few of the resources available online. Physicians can
check the status of claims and determine if a patient is eligible for a Humana
health plan through the company's Web site.
"Our vision of encouraging our members and their physicians to be in
control of their health care is becoming a reality," said Goodman. "The
future of Humana and the Internet is on a parallel track. As usage of the Web
increases, so does Humana's ability to offer members and physicians the
choices they want from their health plan."
Humana's place among the leaders in e-health technology was recently
confirmed with the unveiling in Cincinnati of www.humanacc.com, a unique Web
site that gives employers and their employees the ability to transact their
 health business online.
Tom Shawhan, lead human resources specialist with Cincinnati-based Cincom,
said humanacc.com is a valuable tool for his 400 employees. "They can use it
as a resource for everything from reviewing claims status to finding a lower-
cost alternative prescription drug. In addition, we expect that humanacc.com
will save our human resources staff substantial time in managing the health
 care plan," Shawhan said.
