Hurricane Katrina Hero, Lt. General Russel Honore (Ret.), Keynote Speaker at SunGard Business Continuity Software International User Group Forum
Expert in Disaster Preparedness and Leadership to Discuss Dealing with a Disaster before it Happens
WAYNE, Pa., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Lt. General Russel Honore, who is best known for his management of the recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina, will deliver the keynote address at the 2010 SunGard Business Continuity Software International User Group Forum.
The forum will provide business continuity professionals with a range of educational opportunities, including learning about the role of business impact analysis in disaster preparedness, involving key stakeholders in the planning process and the value in making a disaster recovery plan a living document. The forum, organized by SunGard Availability Services, will be held in Orlando, Fla. on April 10 - 14, 2010.
Lt. General Honore gained many accolades as commander of Joint Task Force Katrina, which was responsible for coordinating military relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina-affected areas across the Gulf Coast in 2005. Today, he is a leading voice in raising awareness about the need to create a culture of preparedness. By focusing attention on the "left side of disaster" - the crisis before it happens - organizations and individuals can better respond to the unexpected and uncontrollable, according to Lt. Gen. Honore.
"Lt. General Honore is a captivating figure not only because he delivered when under incredible pressure in a situation getting worse by the day, but also because he has a compelling vision for preparing to address disasters of the future," said Brian Turley, senior vice president and general manager, software of SunGard Availability Services. "His vision maps well with SunGard's strategy to help organizations be prepared to respond to situations - both planned and unexpected - that threaten to disrupt essential business systems and processes."
