'Iberdrola USA' Replacing 'Energy East'; New Senior Executives Join Company
ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the ongoing integration process that has been under way since Iberdrola's September 2008 acquisition of Energy East Corporation, "Iberdrola USA" is replacing the name "Energy East," effectively immediately, and two new senior executives have joined the company.
Name Change to Iberdrola USA
The name change will not affect the names of Iberdrola USA's utility companies. Iberdrola USA is the parent company of NYSEG, RG&E, Central Maine Power, Southern Connecticut Gas, Connecticut Natural Gas, Berkshire Gas, Maine Natural Gas and New Hampshire Gas as well as unregulated companies that include NYSEG Solutions and Energetix.
"Directly linking the strong Iberdrola global brand -- and its association with renewables, caring for the environment and focusing on customers -- with our companies makes complete sense. It also makes complete sense to keep our operating company names that are strong brands in their own right," said Robert Kump, chief executive officer of Iberdrola USA.
New Senior Executives
"In order to meet the needs of our customers in this challenging economic environment, we have added two senior executives to the Iberdrola USA team," Kump said. "The skills, talent and experience these individuals bring to our organization are essential to the successful operation of our business."
The new executives are:
- Kevin Walker, who has joined the company as chief operating officer of Iberdrola USA. Most recently he was senior vice president and chief information officer at American Electric Power Company (AEP). Walker was president and chief operating officer of AEP Ohio from 2004 to 2008 and spent the 13 years prior to that at Consolidated Edison and Public Service Company of New Hampshire.
- Mark Lynch, who has joined the company as president of New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E). Lynch was president and chief executive officer of the New York Independent System Operator from 2005 to 2008. He also has extensive utility experience at Mirant Corporation, Mississippi Power Company and Southern Energy, the predecessor to Mirant.
