Icelandair Teams With FairMarket to Offer Online Auction Site; Bids Open at $1 for 4th of July Travel

    COLUMBIA, Md., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Icelandair, "the coolest airline
 crossing the Atlantic," has joined FairMarket, Inc. to deliver, an online auction site that will offer great fares
 to Icelandair's primary destinations in Scandinavia, the UK and continental
 Europe.  Icelandair is the first airline to partner with FairMarket in this
 unique auction system.
     In the next few weeks, Icelandair plans to offer more than 500 seats for
 summer and fall travel, with start-up bids as low as one dollar for flights
 from New York (JFK), Boston, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Baltimore/Washington
     "Online sales and marketing represent a fast-growing segment of
 Icelandair's business," said Magnus Stephensen, Icelandair's marketing manager
 in North America.  "We believe this new venture keeps us on the cutting edge
 of e-commerce," he added.
     Last year, online sales generated in excess of 6% of the airline's
 revenues in North America.  During the first quarter of 2000, online sales
 surpassed 14% of current revenues, more than doubling last year's performance.
     Icelandair North American gateways include Halifax in Canada and Boston,
 New York (JFK), Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Minneapolis/St. Paul and Orlando.
 Flights connect through the airline's hub in Reykjavik to Greenland, the Faroe
 Islands, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Glasgow, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt,
 Paris, Milan and Madrid; Gothenburg, Helsinki, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Hamburg,
 Munich, Vienna, and Zurich via SAS codeshare; and Belfast, East Midlands and
 Dublin via British Midland codeshare.
