ICL & the Delek Group Announce That Their Holding IDE Technologies Has Won a Tender to Build Israel's Sorek Desalination Plant

The Plant, to be Delivered by SDL, a Subsidiary of IDE (51%) and Hutchison Water (49%), Will be Israel's Largest - and One of the World's Largest Desalination Plants

TEL AVIV, Israel, December 15 /PRNewswire/ --

- The Plant is Expected to Begin Operating in 2014 and to Reach a Desalination Capacity of 150 Million m3 Per Year

IDE Technologies, a world leading provider of sophisticated water solutions, and its shareholders ICL (50%) and the Delek Group (50%), announced that SDL (Sorek Desalination Ltd) - a company formed by IDE and Hutchison Water, was selected today as the winner of the Israeli government's prestigious Sorek desalination plant tender.

SDL is owned by IDE (51%) and Hutchison Water (49%). The Sorek seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) facility will be constructed under the BOT (Build Operate Transfer) model, similar to the model used successfully by IDE and its partners in delivering Israel's Ashkelon and Hadera desalination facilities.

The Sorek SWRO plant will reach a desalination capacity of 150 million m3 of seawater per year, a volume which will make it Israel's largest SWRO desalination facility and one of the largest of its kind in the world. The plant will use energy generated on-site in a private energy generation facility (IPP) to be built by Delek Infrastructure Ltd.

Commenting on the news, Mr. Avshalom Felber, CEO of IDE Technologies, stated, "We are proud to have won an additional tender for the creation of a significant new desalination facility in Israel. IDE is a leading player in the world seawater desalination industry, and this project is another achievement in the chain of major desalination plants delivered worldwide, using cutting-edge technologies. Among these, we are very proud of our Israeli successes, including the Ashkelon facility (currently the largest operating SWRO facility worldwide), which has been operating successfully for over four years, and the equally large Hadera plant which we expect to begin full streaming in the next few weeks."

Mr. Felber added, "We look forward to working together with Hutchison Water to carry out this large, complex project. We believe that our winning of this tender is further evidence to confirm the creativity, technological and business innovation of our company and our ability to succeed in executing complex, long-term projects of this type."
