ICOA Powers Wi-Fi at 27 Airports; Announces New Service for Grand Rapids (GRR) and San Luis Obispo (SBP)
WARWICK, R.I., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ICOA, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: ICOA), a national provider of wireless broadband Internet
networks and managed services in high-traffic public locations, today
announced the addition of service to two new airports: Gerald R. Ford
International Airport (GRR) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and San Luis Obispo
County Regional Airport (SBP) in California.
ICOA dba ICOA Airport Networks currently provides service to twenty-seven
airports nationally which serve more than sixty-five million annual
passengers. Eighteen ICOA-powered airports have full-facility public and
private Wi-Fi coverage. Nine additional airports have wireless and wired
service covering select high-traffic public areas.
GRR, Michigan's second busiest commercial airport, serves over two million
annual passengers. San Luis Obispo, located in the Central Coast region of
California, serves over three hundred thousand annual passengers.
The ICOA-powered networks will provide full coverage to both passenger
terminals with public broadband wireless Internet access, as well as wholesale
and secured private networks for operational needs. ICOA will provide
complete management, maintenance, customer care and the full suite of its
back-office solutions, including authentication and reporting.
"We are pleased to partner with Gerald R. Ford and San Luis Obispo
Airports to provide their customers with this valuable service, backed by the
support of ICOA's rapidly growing sales, marketing, operational, engineering
and customer care teams," said Pam Brown, Vice President of ICOA Airport
Networks. "ICOA has rapidly become a national provider of broadband wireless
services to airports and we are looking to continue our aggressive growth in
this promising area."
The new high-speed broadband wireless Internet networks will offer
passengers secure, convenient wireless Internet access from anywhere in the
terminal. The public service does not require users to install or use
proprietary software.
Passengers with Wi-Fi-enabled laptops or PDAs will be able to connect to
the Internet to check their e-mail, access their corporate servers, download
documents and surf the Web with unlimited access from anywhere in the airport.
Airport information, such as flight schedules, ground transportation
information, passenger services and security bulletins can also be accessed
from the Wi-Fi portals at each airport facility.
