IEEE Computer Society to Live Video Stream 2012 Microsoft Research Faculty Summit on July 16-17
Microsoft Research's annual faculty summit provides an opportunity for leading academic researchers and educators to join with Microsoft researchers to explore the latest research results
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., July 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Hear leading academic researchers and educators share their approaches to solving real-world computing challenges by watching the IEEE Computer Society's live video streaming of the Microsoft Research Faculty Summit July 16-17.
The live-streaming will begin with a keynote speech at 9:30 a.m. PDT on July 16 by Eric Horvitz , distinguished scientist and deputy managing director at Microsoft Research, who will discuss "Predictions, Decisions, and Intelligence in the Open World."
Other speakers on July 16 include David Breashears , founder and executive director of GlacierWorks, who will talk about "Rivers of Ice: Vanishing Glaciers of the Himalayas," and panels discussing natural user interfaces and technology policy.
On July 17, Rick Rashid , chief research officer of Microsoft Research, will share new ideas about the blending of physical and virtual worlds; Harold Javid , director of Regional Programs at Microsoft Research, will talk about how to foster the next generation of computer scientists; and FUSE LAbs manager Lily Cheng will discuss social media in research.
