IN THE MONEY - A new travelling exhibition from the Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada
OTTAWA, Sept. 27, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, the Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada opens IN THE MONEY. This travelling exhibition explores the science behind bank notes, from the earliest paper money in China to present day. Highlighted are innovations that have kept both paper and now polymer notes easy to use and difficult to counterfeit.
Interactive stations and dynamic displays focus on the history behind artifacts from the National Currency Collection. Visitors will also be able to see the latest developments in bank note technology, including Canada's new Polymer note series.
The exhibition is on display to the public from 28 September 2012 to 23 June 2013.
About the Currency Museum
Established in 1980, the Currency Museum is part of the Communications Department of the Bank of Canada. Through its stewardship of Canada's National Currency Collection, the Museum preserves Canada's numismatic heritage and engages visitors with videos, audio tours and special programming about money, the central bank, and the economy.
The Currency Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:30 to 17:00 and Sunday from 13:00 to 17:00. Admission is Free.
