WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Inaugural Veterans Day National Multi-Media 24-Hour Broadcast on November 11 was streamed around the world with viewers from Chile, France, Norway, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, and the United States. Celebrity spokesperson Ben Vereen joined Damon Weaver, who has made international headlines as the youngest reporter to interview President Obama, and actress Carmelita Hughes to host the event.

SOS Support Our Soldiers, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting veterans' organizations throughout the nation, partnered with Tom Graver and Ernie Smith of GI Radio, the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, and Comcast Cable Company to produce the event.

Special guests included actors Jim Nabors, James McEachin who was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service in the Korean War, and Lou Gossett, Jr.; Roy Foster, a Top 10 CNN Hero finalist; Bluegrass queen, Rhonda Vincent; and comedians Eddie Brill of the Late Show with David Letterman and Angela Manfredi.

World-renowned medical professionals such as Dr. Christopher Born, Dr. Roman Hayda, Dr. Stefan Schneeberger, Dr. Timothy Miller, and Dr. L. Scott Levin participated in the Medical Talk segment produced by Diane N. Weiss. Thomas E. Ackley, Jack H. Jacobs, and David Bellavia were among the veteran heroes that were featured.

Valerie Halaby, president of SOS and executive producer for the broadcast, is proud to have launched the first national internet telethon to honor the nation's veterans and active duty soldiers.

"The inaugural event marked the launch of the world's first internet media channel devoted to our soldiers, veterans, and their families. We'd like to encourage all Americans to continue to donate through our web site www.supportoursoldiers.org," said Halaby. Donations will go to Hope*Faith*Love*Charity, Inc., The Fisher House Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, Vietnam Veterans of America, Operation Mend, and Korean Veterans Association of America.

"Also, SOS is seeking corporate sponsors to help us air educational and inspirational programming for veterans and soldiers on our internet channel, as well as for our next national event, the SOS Freedom Concert to be held on July 4, 2010," said Halaby.
