Independence Visitor Center Corporation Launches New Interactive Website
PHILADELPHIA, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In preparation for the 2013 peak visitation season, the Independence Visitor Center Corporation (IVCC) is excited to launch a completely redesigned website, www.PHLVisitorCenter.com (formerly www.IndependenceVisitorCenter.com), today that aims to service those visiting the Philadelphia region.
"Research collected in 2012 of visitors surveyed in the Independence Visitor Center tells us that nearly one-third of travelers plan their trip within three months of their visit and 22% plan six months out or more," says IVCC President & CEO James J. Cuorato. "Therefore, this is the right time to unveil our new site to those planning their trip to the area in the spring."
The website features a fresh bold design that incorporates bright colors, vibrant photography, and a variety of tools that allow visitors to learn about the range of services and amenities offered at the Independence Visitor Center and its satellite locations.
"The Internet is an invaluable resource for visitors during the trip planning process," says Cuorato. "Our goal was to create a website that captures the user's attention from the moment they first log on and gets them excited about starting their visit to the region at the Independence Visitor Center."
Designed by local interactive studio Bluecadet, the website is an engaging experience. The distinct user-friendly design makes finding information easy and enjoyable. Visitors to the site are welcomed by a home page that leads with captivating photography describing current city-wide and regional events followed by interactive tools to contact the IVCC's expert concierge staff.
The website continues with the top five reasons to start at the Independence Visitor Center, the IVCC's main location and official visitor center of the region, located in Independence National Historical Park. The website emphasizes the historical significance of the Visitor Center's location in Independence National Historical Park and includes listings for all National Park Service sites, along with essential visitor information and rich photography. The website also features listings for more than 60 other tours and attractions throughout Philadelphia and the region including Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties, all with tickets available for purchase at the Visitor Center. Visitors looking for additional information are directed to visitphilly.com, the official visitor website for Greater Philadelphia, managed by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC).
Visitors to the new website are still able to purchase tickets online to select tours and attractions throughout the region and Southern New Jersey. The online ticket sales feature is a convenient option for the purchase of tickets to a variety of tours and attractions before arriving to the area.
"We pride ourselves on the level of service and the wide array of amenities we are able to offer visitors at our Visitor Center locations," states Cuorato, "and we are excited to be offering a variety of new tools to our online visitors."
Innovative features of the site include a real-time feed that broadcasts tweets from the IVCC's Twitter handle, @PHLVisitorCntr, a live chat application that allows website visitors to chat with a live concierge during the Visitor Center's operating hours, and social media tools that visitors can use to post content to their personal accounts. A mobile version of the website, optimized for smartphones, allows for easy access to key information on-the-go.
In addition to the launch of its new website, the IVCC has also updated its existing social media channels to provide consistency in branding and messaging. The IVCC's Twitter handle, @PHLVisitorCntr, which updates more than 8,000 followers on happenings in the Philadelphia region and provides trip advice, adopted a color palette that complements the new website design. The IVCC's Facebook page implemented a new URL, www.Facebook.com/PHLVisitorCenter (formerly www.Facebook.com/IndependenceVisitorCenter), and continues to deliver messaging to a diverse audience seeking Philadelphia travel information.
