Ingram Park Mazda pits 2014 Mazda3 against 2014 Chevy Cruze for all-out sedan battle Two award-winning vehicles go bumper-to-bumper to establish which brought more to the 2014 model year

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Oct. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- A fresh model year typically means two things for automakers. Either they bring brand new vehicles and bold redesigns to the table or they carry over vehicles with performances from the previous model year that stand the test of time. In the case of the 2014 Mazda3 vs 2014 Chevy Cruze, both occur simultaneously. Mazda boldly redesigned its most popular vehicle, now available at Ingram Park Mazda, and Chevy carried over the Cruze from the model year prior. Ingram Park Mazda is setting out to establish which sedan is bringing more to the 2014 model year.

Car critics and automotive enthusiasts had been waiting with bated breath for 2014 Mazda3 launch. The automaker took a big risk in completely redesigning its bread and butter in the 2014 model year, but so far it has proven to be one of the smartest moves Mazda has made since launching its SKYACTIV Technology. Refreshed with a more sophisticated appearance and performance, the Mazda3 still maintains its playfulness and efficiency, two of the elements that keep drivers coming back to it year after year.

In some cases, playing it safe can be a risk. For the 2014 Chevy Cruze, that risk paid off. Chevy kept the Cruze the same since its last redesign, which has given drivers 138-horsepower performance with the strength to produce an EPA-estimated 36 mpg highway. When drivers upgrade the vehicle's powertrain to the 1.4-liter EcoTec turbo engine, the Chevy Cruze Eco can earn an EPA-estimated 42 mpg highway. The Cruze also shows off its versatile chops by offering up to 15 cubic-feet of trunk space and 94.6 cubic feet. of interior space for passengers.

A redesign gives automakers a chance to exceed expectations and go beyond what others have done in the past. Never one to be complacent or give up an opportunity to be innovative, Mazda equipped the 2014 Mazda3 with the 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine, which tops out at 155 horsepower while also delivering an EPA-estimated 41 mpg highway. Also implementing its latest KODO design philosophy, Mazda gave its best-selling car an upgraded appearance to breathe new life into the 2014 model lineup.

Ultimately the 2014 Mazda3 checks out with a stronger performance, but its sleek new design and ever-impressive drive has passengers looking forward to each moment behind the wheel. Test drive the new Mazda at Ingram Park Mazda to experience all of its newest features.
