Carlos Ghosn , Nissan Motor Co.'s President & CEO, talked about the record year and stated that, "Nissan has delivered robust operating profits and record sales amid growing demand for our models, brands and technologies around the world. Nissan has dealt with its share of adversity throughout the year as Ghosn stated, but they found a way to push through it and record, record sales figures.

Globally, Nissan sold a record 4.85 million units for the fiscal year of 2011, a 16 percent increase over last year's fiscal figures. Nissan now has a 6.4 percent market share of the global automotive market, up from just under 6 percent last year.

Nissan expects to keep the record numbers rolling in as they prepare to unleash several new and updated vehicle models which cater to consumers' evolving preferences. Leading the charge will be the 2013 Nissan Altima, which will boast best-in-class fuel economy and is due to hit showrooms later this year.
