KALUGA, Russia, November 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

From October 31 to November 3, the Kaluga delegation, led by the Deputy Governor of the region, the Minister for the Development of Information Society and Innovation, Maxim Shereykin, participated in the Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development, "Open Innovations". The forum is expected to become a dynamic platform for the exchange of experience and the development of new decisions within the sphere of innovation.

During the forum, the presentation of the innovative capacity of the Kaluga region took place. At the "Open Innovations Expo 2012" exhibition, the regions's most innovative enterprises presented projects within the fields of energy-saving and new materials production. A separate stand was devoted to information on regional support systems for small and medium-sized enterprises working in the innovative sphere.

The program also involved the participation of Kalugians in thematic discussions on topical issues relating to modern innovative policy, and demonstrated the innovative potential of regional branch clusters from the automobile industry, pharmaceutics, biotechnology, biomedicine, and information and communication technology.

Speaking about the development prospects, Maxim Shereykin noted that, in the Kaluga region, it will be necessary to actively introduce innovations in the region's fuel-energy complex and food production industry. "Realization of these strategic directions is one of the conditions for successful development, not only in the Kaluga region, but also in the country as a whole," he emphasized.
