Insulindependence to Host North American Conference on Diabetes and Exercise in 2013
SAN DIEGO, March 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Insulindependence announced today that it will be hosting the next North American Conference on Diabetes and Exercise in San Diego, California, on August 16-18, 2013.
The conference was previously hosted by the Diabetes Exercise and Sports Association (DESA), prior to their merge with Insulindependence in 2012.
"Our staff is working closely with DESA's former leadership to ensure that we can preserve all of the elements of what was a widely-acclaimed program," said Peter Nerothin, President of Insulindependence. "Our goal is to integrate the most successful pieces of our University of Insulindependence curriculum and make it accessible to everyone."
Weekend events will draw top names in diabetes and sport, including athletes, researchers, and industry professionals.
"The goal of our first conference in 1988 was to bring all these people together," said Paula Harper, Founder of DESA. "The dialogue we've shared at 20-some conferences since then has been spectacular."
Registration will open in early April, with discounted admission for Insulindependence members. The event will provide world-class faculty in diabetes athlete physiology, nutrition, diabetes technology and behavioral psychology. Workshops, lectures and networking opportunities will be designed to educate type 1 patients, caregivers and clinicians.
More information will be available on the Insulindependence website in early April. For the latest announcements on registration, faculty, and associated events, follow Insulindependence on Twitter @IN_Revolution.
