International Business Leader A. Huda Farouki Commends Georgetown University Chair Dr. Fida J. Adely for Promoting Global Understanding of Arab Culture
Dr. Adely is the first recipient of the Clovis and Hala Salaam Maksoud
Chair in Arab Studies at Georgetown University
VIENNA, Va., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A. Huda Farouki, CEO of
Nour USA and ANHAM, LLC, congratulated and commended Dr. Fida J. Adely
today for her appointment as the first Clovis and Hala Salaam Maksoud Chair
at Georgetown University.

Mr. A.H. Farouki is the Co-Chairman of the Center for Contemporary Arab
Studies' (CCAS) Fundraising Campaign. While holding this position, Mr.
Farouki has ensured the Chair's long-term endowment through vigorous
fundraising and a significant amount of participation and planning.
The Clovis and Hala Salaam Maksoud Chair, and Dr. Fida Adely's
appointment, were announced Tuesday, October 23rd at the ICC Galleria to an
audience that included international dignitaries, educational heads, and
corporate leaders. The event was led by the Dean of the Edmund A. Walsh
School of Foreign Service, Mr. Robert L. Gallucci, and Dr. Michael Hudson,
the Saif Ghobash Professor of Arab Studies and Director of the Center for
Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS). Remarks and reflections were also given
by Mr. A.H. Farouki; Ambassador Roscoe Suddarth, Chairman of the Center for
Contemporary Arab Studies Advisory Board and Ambassador Clovis Maksoud,
Founder and Director of the Center for the Global South of American
University, respectively.
Dr. Fida J. Adely is the first recipient of the Clovis and Hala Salaam
Maksoud Chair in Arab Studies at CCAS and served as the main speaker for
the evening. Dr. Adely presented an academic address entitled "Education
for Development in the Arab World: Progress, Dilemmas and Choices," based
on her dissertation research developed during a trip to Jordan. Dr. Adely
holds a doctorate in Comparative Education and Anthropology from Teachers
College, Columbia University and a master's degree from Columbia's School
of International and Transcultural Studies.
