(Nasdaq: IPCM), a leading national hospitalist physician group practice company, announced today that Philip Vaidyan, M.D., FACP, an IPC hospitalist, was named by ACP Hospitalist as one of the 2009 Top Ten Hospitalists in the nation. He was recognized in the November 2009 issue of the magazine.

Dr. Vaidyan has been a practicing physician for more than 10 years and currently serves as director of hospital medicine at St. Mary's Health Center in St. Louis, Missouri. He joined IPC The Hospitalist Company in 2005.

Dr. Vaidyan, who is board certified in internal medicine, also serves as St. Mary's Internal Medicine Program's educational director for inpatient medicine. In this role, he develops the hospital medicine curriculum, lectures, teaches residents, and serves as a mentor. Dr. Vaidyan was awarded the hospital's 2008 "Teacher of the Year Award" given by the internal medicine house staff to the faculty member who contributed the most to their clinical education.
