SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- iVisit, LLC announced today that its iVisit Rx telemedicine platform was selected as a finalist in the Fourth Annual CTIA Emerging Technologies (E-Tech) Awards in the Enterprise & Vertical - Healthcare category.

The E-Tech Awards ceremony takes place Thursday, April 2, from 3:00PM -- 4:00PM on the MEX Stage in South Hall. The program is designed to give industry recognition and exposure to the best wireless products and services.

iVisit Rx is a platform for enabling healthcare organizations to deploy scalable telehealth and assisted living solutions. The technology combines audio-video conferencing, instant photo sharing, push-to-talk, instant messaging, remote patient monitoring, session recording for medical records and GPS location-based-services into a powerful unified communications tool. It works across IP and 3G+ networks and allows connectivity between mobile phones, computers, and mobile diagnostic devices.

The technology enables face-to-face communication between medical practitioners and patients, allowing for remote patient treatment and monitoring. It also can be used for monitoring drug therapy and compliance, reinforcing nutritional guidelines, and ensuring patients stick to a treatment program.

iVisit is continuing its development and clinical trials of its SeeStar/SeeScan technologies, which were finalists in the 2008 CTIA E-Tech Awards. SeeStar technology offers persons who are visually impaired a virtual "pair of eyes". Live images are transmitted to a remote assistant who can view the images, describe the person's surroundings, indicate the location of landmarks and pathways to destinations, or recognize object and print media. Additionally, SeeStar's object recognition technology provides visually impaired users with a mobile system that can easily and quickly detect and recognize specific objects. iVisit SeeStar/SeeScan technologies are sponsored by the National Institute of Aging and National Eye Institute.
