 popular names in most of the 50 states, revealed BabyCenter.com today as a
 part of the 1998 edition of its annual baby name study. Michael, William,
 Austin, Jose, Joshua, and Matthew followed as the most popular names for boys
 in a variety of states. Hannah, Madison, Alexis, Jessica, Samantha, Ashley,
 and Taylor each topped the girls' list in several additional states.
