NEW YORK, Dec. 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Jane Lynch joined the Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) Charmin brand on December 29 as emcee of the culminating event of a two-month nationwide search to find the Charmin Go Nation King or Queen of the Throne. Alabama's contest representative, Iris Hill, was crowned the winner and awarded the $50,000 grand prize after proving her throne-worthiness in bathroom trivia knowledge and on point toilet paper, mummy-wrapping skills. As the Charmin Go Nation Queen, she will preside over the Charmin Restrooms for the last few days of 2010, sharing her Charmin enthusiasm by greeting and welcoming visitors and their families to New York City.
In the final dash for the royal stipend, the finalists participated in two rounds of competition: bathroom trivia questions and physical challenges featuring a Charmin stacking competition, a Charmin tossing competition and a Charmin mummy competition. With Hill as the Queen, four additional finalists from across the country came out to New York City and now sit in her royal court as runners up, including Erica Cicero from Arizona, Jenny Haskell from Maine, Justin Berkobien from Michigan, and Melissa Young from Pennsylvania.
The Charmin Go Nation Contest launched on October 18th with a nationwide search to find one representative from each state or district to compete for the chance to be crowned King or Queen of the Charmin Restrooms in New York City. On the Restrooms' 2010 opening day on November 23rd, the state representatives were announced to the public.
This year's Charmin Restrooms feature baby changing stations and comfortable lounge areas along with special features such as an oversized toilet photo-op, potty dance stage, giant smartphone-inspired video display and a social media kiosk area.
