MANASSAS, Va., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- JANSON Communications, a strategic communications agency serving defense, aerospace and government technology organizations, is pleased to announce the addition of retired Army Lt. Col. Frederick Wellman to the company as Senior Director for Communications, Public Relations and Social Media. Wellman will focus his efforts on social and new media strategies, as well as traditional public relations activities. Using his military background and specific experience with effective use and application of social media, he will expand the suite of solutions JANSON offers to its clients.

Wellman comes to JANSON with over 22 years of global military and corporate leadership experience, most recently as the Director of Operations, Executive Officer and Deputy Commander of the Soldiers Media Center/Defense Media Activity-Army in Arlington, VA. In these roles, he served as the leader of the Army's social media efforts in addition to managing the organization's entire internal news network. During multiple tours of duty supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, Wellman was the Chief of Public Affairs for the Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq and the Operations, Executive, Civil and Public Affairs Officer for the 6-101st Aviation, 101st Airborne Division. In these posts, he handled media relations, crisis communications, internal communications, public affairs training, and also served as special advisor to senior commanding officers.
