LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Tianjin Jinke Electronics System Co Ltd, one of China's major manufacturers and designers of ePaper reading devices, announces it has joined with telecom equipment maker Huawei on e-publishing solutions.

The two companies will jointly develop and market the e-publishing solutions tailored to telecom carriers.

Tianjin Jinke will develop the terminals for the e-reader while Huawei will offer a full-range of back-office software including copyright management, charging management, publishing management as well as customs management.

The solutions are due to be operational at China Mobile, one of the country's three major telecom carriers, at the beginning of 2010.

They will be promoted in the European and American markets later on.

Jinke has also launched several e-readers to specifically match the solutions.

Since Amazon launched the Kindle, telecom operators have been keeping eyes on this industry, and are actively planning to get foot in such operations, in a move to realize 3G value-added services. The collaboration between Jinke and Huawei is expected to attract the attention of telecom carriers around the world.

Reading via wireless downloading has become available with the development of 3G technology, which also promotes the popularity of e-publishing and enables it to enter into the main-stream in the publishing sector.

"The e-publishing will be bridged by telecom carriers, and sales of e-readers will rise sharply over the next 3 to 5 years, and global sales are expected to hit 20 million by 2012," said Li Qingcheng, president of Tianjin Jinke.

Besides the cooperation with Huawei, Jinke also plans to collaborate with Taiwan-headquartered Foxlink, OEM/ODM expert on communications devices; by doing so, capacity of e-readers could expand rapidly and reach first-rate manufacturing levels in the world.

Tianjin Jinke will present new products at eBooks TechZone of Central Hall at the 2010 CES Expo in Las Vegas, USA.
