Jive Software Works With DocVerse to Bring a Social Layer to Microsoft Office
PORTLAND, Ore. and SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Company News
- Jive, the Social Business Software (SBS) leader, and DocVerse today announced an OEM relationship in which Jive will distribute DocVerse Enterprise. The partnership enables Jive SBS users to leverage the full functionality of DocVerse Enterprise to seamlessly work on any Microsoft Office document, spreadsheet or presentation in Jive or on their desktop for real-time, transparent collaboration.
- DocVerse Enterprise for Jive users will be offered as the Jive Connects for Microsoft Office module that is now generally available with Jive SBS 4.0. For more information on Jive SBS 4.0, see today's press release.
- The DocVerse Enterprise product allows users to continue using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel exactly the same way they currently do today. Via a plug-in that integrates seamlessly into Microsoft Office, multiple authors and contributors can make comments and changes on documents simultaneously with automatic synchronization of each other's changes in their Jive community. Now when users create and save Microsoft Office content, it is published in their Jive activity stream, which invites comments, discussions, and constructive feedback.
- The alliance brings DocVerse's state-of-the-art document collaboration capabilities to Jive SBS 4.0, and is designed to end the reliance on the typical back-and-forth email attachments required to share and edit Microsoft Office documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Even Jive users who do not use Microsoft Office can preview and provide inline comments to any Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document.
Commentary
- "Jive wants to extend Social Business Software across enterprise users' highest frequency applications, and nowhere is that more important than for the 600 million Microsoft Office users," said Chris Morace, SVP Products of Jive Software. "Our alliance with DocVerse is a key part of how Jive is changing the way people can socialize critical documents, content and conversations no matter where they are working."
- "DocVerse is pleased to help Jive push the envelope for how collaboration software should work," said Shan Sinha, CEO of DocVerse. "Together we're providing Jive customers a simple way to bring true collaboration to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel."
