JMPR Public Relations Signs Sports Afield Magazine

    WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., May 30 /PRNewswire/ -- JMPR Public Relations today
 announced that Sports Afield magazine has retained the automotive and
 lifestyle public relations agency.
     Sports Afield, "America's Original Outdoor Journal," was founded in 1887
 by Denver's Claude King as an eight-page "Journal for Gentlemen."  Based in
 North Hollywood, California, it is targeted to the outdoor sports enthusiast
 market and has been nominated for more National Magazine Awards than any
 other outdoor title.
     The magazine was recently purchased by publishing magnate Robert E.
 Petersen and will be relaunched with the August 2000 issue in an effort to
 return the magazine to its 'original' grassroots niche format by modifying its
 editorial package with a strong focus on comprehensive hunting and fishing
     JMPR will assist Sports Afield's marketing and management team in the
 promotion of the publication to the outdoor, firearms, and publishing trade
 and consumer media.
