Justice Department Releases Guide for Preventing and Responding to School Violence
WASHINGTON, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs today announced the availability of a guide published by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for members of school communities which provides strategies for responding to and preventing school violence. The guide addresses the roles of the school, the community, families, law enforcement, and the justice system and details how groups can work together effectively to take action and prevent school violence.

The Office of Justice Programs, headed by Assistant Attorney General Laurie O. Robinson, provides federal leadership in developing the nation's capacity to prevent and control crime, administer justice, and assist victims. OJP has five component bureaus: the Bureau of Justice Assistance; the Bureau of Justice Statistics; the National Institute of Justice; the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention; and the Office for Victims of Crime.
