KC HiLiTES Gets Involved with Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The "Help Us LiTE The Way To A Cure!" Campaign is spearheaded by Michele DeHaas, wife of KC HiLiTES CEO, Michael DeHaas. In October of 2010, Michele went in for her annual mammogram and was told a lump had been detected in one of her breasts. As she waited dauntingly for the MRI appointment and the results, her mind raced with all the life-changing possibilities. What if she had cancer? Ultimately, Michele was very grateful to discover that the dense tissue was in fact a benign cyst, but the experience and the worry stuck with her. Michele states, "I could not help but think about the women that are not so fortunate with their mammogram results. Early detection of cancer is very important for the best chances of survival. Not all women have the means or ability to get mammograms annually and this where we all need to help."
