Wear Red Day Draws Attention to Women's Heart Health

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Countless ladies dressed in red were treated to a special day thanks to M&I, a part of BMO Financial Group and several generous local businesses. Women enjoyed activities including massages, health and fitness advice, and hair styling. This unique day was all in the name of health - women's heart health in particular. As part of the American Heart Association's national Go Red campaign, Friday, February 3 was national "Wear Red" day, a day to build awareness of heart disease in women and inspire action. The American Heart Association and M&I hosted spa-inspired events around Kansas City designed to reduce stress and recognize the importance of women's heart health.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S. It takes the life of one woman per minute. This disease is misunderstood and often unnoticed. More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. Realizing the importance of this issue, M&I has been a major supporter of Kansas City's "Go Red" efforts for the past several years.

The chairwoman of this year's Go Red campaign, M&I Wealth Management's Kelli Glynn, had this to say about the day's activities, "Women are always taking care of others. Friday's events were designed to help them feel good about themselves, and more importantly, educate them about their own heart health."
