Ken Paves Salon Joins Non-Profit's Fight Against Global Human Trafficking
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Sept. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, September 23, celebrity stylist Ken Paves and his team of stylists at the Ken Paves Salon in Beverly Hills are hosting "Cut for a Cause," an event aimed at raising funds to help support the fight against global human trafficking. Proceeds from the event will be donated to The Trade, a non-profit foundation dedicated to helping women in poverty stricken countries leave behind lives of prostitution and human trafficking by providing them training in the art and science of hair dressing.
As part of the event, stylists at the salon will donate their services throughout the day to support The Trade. Patrons who would like to help support the cause should contact the salon to book an appointment.
"Everyone at the salon is very excited for the event Sunday," said Paves. "With the Emmys taking place the same evening, you just never know who you might see at the salon that day."
Ken Paves is involved in numerous charities and joined The Trade's fight against human trafficking in 2011. He and celebrity Victoria Beckham recently endorsed The Trade in the September issue of Glamour Magazine (pg. 218).
"Victoria and I share a passion for empowering women," said Paves. "We love the idea of providing these women with more than just money, but a skill that they can use to provide for themselves and their families in the future."
Since its initiation, The Trade has sent teams of stylists to Nicaragua, Brazil and Africa, helping more than 50 victims improve their social and economic statuses. In addition to hair styling techniques, The Trade provides the women training in simple business practices as a way of adding value to their surrounding communities.
With a goal of raising the funds necessary to continue sponsoring annual trips, The Trade is now leaning on the support of salons and stylists who are passionate for the cause with the implementation of their newest fundraising platform, Cut for a Cause.
"We've had an incredible response from salons and stylists nation-wide," said Chris McCarley, founder of The Trade. "Being a predominantly female-driven industry, many stylists are passionate about empowering women and have jumped on the opportunity to help. We hope that our foundation and efforts provide a platform for these women to tell their stories and raise awareness."
"We have been thrilled to have the support of Ken Paves and his salon," he said. "It's fulfilling to see that so many others are equally passionate about such an important issue."
