Kohl's and Baldwin Publishing help All Children's Hospital target childhood obesity with video recipes
Florida children's hospital uses Kohl's Cares funding to teach kids how to eat better with online cooking videos
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Feb. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- A Florida children's hospital is recommending kids eat chicken nuggets and mac & cheese. Yes, really.
This week, thanks to a donation from Kohl's Cares®, All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. launched Cook eKitchen™, an online cooking video library from Baldwin Publishing that shows how to cook hundreds of healthy family-favorite meals.
All Children's now features Cook eKitchen™ online cooking videos on the hospital's Fit4Allkids website, as part of their Fit4AllKids campaign. The recipes are kid-friendly, but made healthier and more nutritious: Crispy Chicken Nuggets are baked, not fried. Creamy Mac & Cheese is made with skim milk and reduced-fat cheese. Instead of a sugary cereal in the morning, busy parents can make good-for-you Breakfast Bars or PB&J Muffins.
"Adding the cooking video library from Baldwin Publishing allows us to enhance our website and reach even more families with this healthy eating message. The videos are fun and the recipes are easy to follow," said Kellie Gilmore, the outreach coordinator at Fit4Allkids at All Children's Hospital. "We are very excited for our families to take advantage of this great feature and explore our Fit4Allkids site."
All the recipes use affordable, simple ingredients busy moms and dads can find right in the supermarket. Cook eKitchen™ recipes are developed and approved by registered dietitians to meet the USDA Choose My Plate dietary guidelines.
All Children's Hospital created Fit4Allkids to help children manage their weight and make healthy food choices. Now, thanks to Cook eKitchen™, Tampa Bay area families have an easy way to eat right, with healthy recipes right at their fingertips.
