NEW YORK, July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Corn Field in Times Square -- Korn announced today that they will be joining the effort to tour green by fueling all their vehicles with bio-diesel. This effort will lessen their environmental impact on this year's Family Values Tour by using domestically produced bio-fuels in all 16 of their touring vehicles. The band is working with Music Matters' SMART (Sustainable Minded Artists Recording Touring) program and Conserv Fuel to fuel their vehicles with domestically produced bio-fuel which can be derived from a variety of plant based matter including; soy, corn, and various other vegetable and animal oils. Korn is using bio- diesel for their biofuel needs which will reduce the CO2 emissions that tour produces by almost 50 tons. "We can't save the planet overnight but this is our way of saying everyone has to start somewhere. As a touring band it's our responsibility to start making a difference. We encourage all other bands touring this summer to do the same," said Jonathan Davis. In an effort to get the word out about alternative fuels, Korn will be launching their own brand of bio-fuel. The soon to be officially revealed recipe will be called Korntastic and more information will be available at http://www.korntastic.com. In another Korn first, soldiers on leave will be invited as Korn's guests to the Family Values Tour all over the country. In a partnership with the USO World Headquarters, tickets will be given free of charge to soldiers on leave in each local stop of this year's Family Values Tour. Distribution will be handled by the USO World Headquarters in conjunction with local bases. Korn's eighth studio album will be released by Virgin Records on Tuesday, July 31st. The untitled album features the hit single, "Evolution". In celebration of the release, Korn will play a free show for fans at the South Street Seaport's Pier 17 at 6pm. The event which is sponsored by J&R Music and Computer World will be free to fans and will be followed by a signing event back at the J&R store on 23 Park Row. Fans outside the NYC area can catch the event streamed live on the band's MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/korn. About THE FAMILY VALUES TOUR: The tour launched September 22, 1998 with a bill headlined by KORN and performances from Rammstein, Ice Cube, Limp Bizkit and Orgy. 1999's line-up featured headliners Limp Bizkit, along with Filter, The Crystal Method, Primus, Staind, Mobb Deep, Ja Rule, and Method Man & Redman. KORN also made surprise appearances at a few dates. Beyond the live touring aspect, the debut outing of The Family Values Tour spawned a gold-certified live album and platinum-certified companion home video. This was followed in spring 2000 with the second live disc and long-form home video. The 2001 trek featured Stone Temple Pilots, Linkin Park, Staind, Static-X and Deadsy.
