DETROIT, Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Functional safety specialist kVA, in conjunction with global safety expert TüV-Nord, announce their final ISO 26262 training session in North America for 2013.  Their industry-leading training course,  "Automotive Functional Safety and the ISO 26262 Standard" will be held from December 2 – 5, 2013, in Troy, Michigan.  Seats are still available for this training and certification program, provided in the English language by kVA's certified trainers.  Online registration is available at www.kvausa.com/training

Participants of the full four-day training session may optionally register for the ISO 26262 certification exam, held on Friday December 6. Trainees who pass the exam will be certified as Functional Safety Certified Automotive Engineer (FSCAE), a designation conferred by TüV-Nord.

Training session participants will receive the powerful Excel-based FMEDA-Workbench tool for ISO 26262 calculations. This spreadsheet-based tool, developed by TüV-Nord, streamlines analysis of safety-related hardware failures in accordance with ISO 26262 requirements. Participants will also receive a hard copy training manual providing a comprehensive view of the ISO 26262 standard, and its implications for electronic hardware, software, and systems engineering in the automotive industry.

The training is targeted toward a range of potential trainees including engineers working in safety-critical electronic systems, managers responsible for developing and verifying safety-critical technologies, and safety & quality representatives seeking to verify compliance with ISO 26262.   Multiple real-world examples are used to illustrate the standard's principles and applications.

This training session continues the long-standing partnership between kVA and TüV-Nord, to bring TüV-Nord's globally recognized safety programs to the U.S.A.  Training class size is limited. For more information or to register online, visit www.kvausa.com/training
