Lake County's Lights of Lake Holiday Festival Brings Sparkle to Central Florida Holiday Nights Absence of Some Light Displays Expected to Drive Attendance to Seasonal Events

LAKE COUNTY, Fla., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- For the seventh consecutive
year, the annual "Lights of Lake" Festival will provide a sparkling setting
for the holiday celebrations of Lake County, Fla., residents and visitors.
From buildings to trees, business districts to waterfront parks -- Lake
County will be adorned with millions of lights beginning Nov. 28. Eight of
the county's towns will participate in the festival, which runs from the end
of November through New Year's Day.
"Lights of Lake is always a popular event, but we're expecting record
turnouts for the festival lighting ceremonies and holiday displays, due to
this year's absence of Disney's Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights and the
Cypress Gardens holiday light display," said Festival Coordinator Carman
 Cullen.
The official celebration will begin on Nov. 28 with lighting ceremonies in
Eustis and the Town Square in Leesburg, followed by a ceremony at Venetian
 Gardens in Leesburg on Nov. 29. Mount Dora will "light up" on Nov. 30;
followed by Clermont on Dec. 5, Tavares on Dec. 6, Lady Lake on Dec. 12,
Groveland on Dec. 13, and Fruitland Park on Dec. 16.
The festival's special events are unique to each town in Lake County,
offering seasonal treats such as holiday music concerts, vibrant storefront
decorations, parades, petting zoos and even man-made snow to spread holiday
cheer. Lake cruise and tour companies such as Captain Ralph Tours
(866-269-6584) offer Holiday Light Cruises for visitors to see the spectacle
from the water. Resorts such as Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort and
Lakeside Inn offer holiday packages, including meals and holiday light tours.
A jazz quartet led by popular local singer Lisa Perry will play following
the Light-Up ceremonies in Leesburg's Venetian Gardens, Donnelly Park in Mount
Dora and Downtown Clermont. A special "Jazz on the Square" event in Tavares
also has been scheduled for Dec. 18. Perry and the jazz band will play a
variety of holiday favorites and popular jazz songs.
In addition to getting residents in the holiday spirit, Lights of Lake has
a positive economic impact on Lake County. An estimated 75,000 local
residents and visitors attended the ceremonies at last year's kickoff events.
Lake County will host many events in addition to the following Lights of Lake
festival and holiday activities. For more information about holiday and other
