Frequent speaker and strong advocate for language access helped Language Line Services expand to Canadian, U.K. and Latin American markets

MONTEREY, Calif., Feb. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Language Line Services, the worldwide market leader in translation and interpretation services, today announced the promotion of Winnie Heh to senior vice president of Global Operations. She has spearheaded some of the company's most critical expansion accomplishments over more than 20 years.

"Winnie has dedicated many years of service to Language Line and has demonstrated her ability to take on highly technical, complex operating responsibilities," said Louis F. "In her new role, she will continue to help oversee our more than 5,000 interpreters around the world and support ongoing expansion and business development efforts."

One of those efforts is to support the newly named Language Line Translation Solutions (formerly Lingo Systems), a premier translation and localization services provider and wholly owned subsidiary of Language Line Services since 2008.

Heh has served in various departments at Language Line Services, including interpreter recruiting, testing, training, sales management and product and market development. Prior to her new role, she was vice president of International Sales and Business Development and helped lead Language Line Services' entry into the U.K., Canadian and Latin American markets.

She also has presided over the Global Advisory Council - the international group of subject matter experts on medical interpreter certification - and Language Line® University, the company's interpreter testing and training division. She has played an important role as an advocate to the National Board for Certification for Medical Interpreters, as well as an ambassador and spokesperson to the industry on quality interpretation and patient safety.

Prior to joining Language Line Services, Heh was a conference interpreter and an adjunct professor at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. She has an associate's degree in accounting and statistics, a bachelor's degree in English literature and language, and a master's degree in translation and interpretation. She lives with her family in Monterey, California.
