Lawrence, KS Nissan Dealer Excited for Nissan LEAF's World Record Attempt Nissan LEAF looks to take on a Guinness World Record at Goodwood Festival
LAWRENCE, Kan., June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Briggs Nissan Lawrence, a Lawrence Nissan dealer, is getting excited to see the Nissan LEAF attempt to break a Guinness World Record during this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The festival will run from June 29 through July 1 and will have the Nissan LEAF attempting the Goodwood hillclimb course, 1.16 miles, backwards.
The Nissan LEAF should have no trouble hitting its top speed backwards, as it features direct drive which sends power directly from the electric motor to each wheel. It's low-center of gravity is also going to play a large role as well, as the LEAF's batteries are located under the floor of the LEAF.
Terry Grant, a Professional Stunt Driver who will be driving the Nissan LEAF during its Guinness Record run, talked about the challenges that lie ahead, stating that, "The LEAF Reverse Record isn't going to be easy and will be very challenging. I'd prefer to do it on a nice straight and level strip of tarmac rather than on Lord March's drive. The hill not only climbs, but is also full of twists, turns and obstacles."
This Guinness World Record attempt is Nissan's final stage of their 'Big Turn On' campaign which is geared to inform European drivers of electric vehicle options in Europe.
