ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- William H. Goodrich, chief executive officer and managing partner of LeChase Construction Services, LLC, today promoted William L. Mack to president of the more than 70-year-old firm.
Mack, 50, will take on an increased role in LeChase's organizational structure, long- and short-term strategic implementation, as well as driving overall company performance and operational objectives. He has been with LeChase since 1993, serving as executive vice president since 2002.
"This announcement marks recognition of the efforts Will has put forth in implementing corporate priorities and strategy," William H. Goodrich said. "With Will overseeing operations and financial performance, I can focus on strategic goals, customer engagement and growth of the organization as a whole."
Goodrich was recently responsible for the firm's acquisition of C.W. Brown in Armonk, N.Y., a deal that marks a continuous commitment to LeChase's ongoing strategic plan for expansion throughout the East Coast. While this announcement signifies a change in title for Mack at LeChase, "his promotion should be seamless to our customers or employees," Goodrich said. "This is a role he has been increasingly filling over the past year."
Mack's increased leadership responsibilities will enable Goodrich continued focus on organizational strategy, enhancing culture, coaching the leadership team, defining the mission and vision, and continuing to champion safety and organizational success.
Goodrich joined the company in 1985 and was appointed vice president and partner in 1995, COO in 1997, president in 2002, CEO in 2007 and became managing partner in 2008. These moves were all part of the succession plan R. Wayne LeChase laid out back in 1995 to ensure the continued success and long-term stability of his family-founded company.
"LeChase has been a part of my family for more than 70 years," R. Wayne LeChase stated. "I began a succession plan in 1995 with the longevity of our values and culture in mind. Both Bill and Will have been proven leaders over the years and I am confident in their ability as a team to support the continued success of LeChase and its people."
While he welcomes taking on a more supportive role with the company, LeChase said he'll still be seen regularly inside and outside of the office, and will continue his heavy community and philanthropic activity within the local community.
"It will give me more time to spend supporting Bill and his direction for the company," he said. "It will also allow me to continue devoting time to community service, which is central to our values as a company."
LeChase serves on a number of boards of trustees, and is a Life Trustee at the University of Rochester, the former chairman of the Greater Rochester Enterprise and Emeritus Trustee of St. John Fisher College and McQuaid Jesuit High School.
LeChase's education includes a B.S. degree in Business Administration from John Carroll University and a J.D. degree from University at Buffalo Law School. He was awarded the Herbert W. Vanden Brul Entrepreneurial Award by Rochester Institute of Technology's College of Business in 2004. In 2005, he was inducted into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame, a program created to recognize exemplary leaders who have made outstanding and enduring contributions to business and community in the Greater Rochester region. Wayne also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Builders Exchange of Rochester in 2013.
Goodrich is actively involved with several affiliations both regionally and nationally. He is a board member for the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce (formerly Rochester Business Alliance), Hillside Children's Center, Keuka College and Lifetime Healthcare, and, for many years, has supported Rochester Careers in Construction—a program that connects high school faculty and students with experts in the construction industry. He is a former board member of the Nazareth Academy School, Junior Achievement, Boy Scouts of America and Rochester Downtown Development Corporation, and a member of the AACE and American General Contractors. Earlier this year, Goodrich and Mack served as co-executive leaders of the American Heart Association's Annual Rochester Heart Walk, an annual community event that celebrates heart health and a commitment to take a stand against heart disease.
Goodrich earned a B.S. degree in Business from Roberts Wesleyan College and an A.A.S. degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Alfred State, the State University of New York College of Technology, where he was also the recipient of a President's Medallion in 2010 and the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in 2014. He will complete Harvard Business School's OPM program—an eMBA-style professional development program—in the spring of 2016.
Mack is also actively involved with several regional and national affiliations. He currently serves on the board for Mary Cariola, the Builders Exchange of Rochester and the YMCA of Greater Rochester; he is also a member of Vistage—an international peer-to-peer membership organization for business executives. Will is a former board member for the Rochester Area Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis and a former member of the Village of Fairport Planning Board.
