Legal Sea Foods Makes a Splash with Redesigned Accessible Website
BOSTON, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Fans of Legal Sea Foods are riding a new
wave of convenience when surfing the company's redesigned website. A fresh
and clean navigation bar is the key to welcome upgrades on every page of
http://www.legalseafoods.com. Legal Sea Foods is the first restaurant company
in the nation with a website certified by the National Federation of the
Blind. This means that all users can view and access information on the
site's pages, regardless of personal handicap or equipment limitations.
Legal's web program underwent an exhaustive overhaul to accomplish these
gains. Working with SplitStream Technologies of Westwood, MA, the company
analyzed guest usage and tailored the site for their convenience. According
to Legal's President and CEO, Roger Berkowitz, "We noticed customers used
parts of the site more than others, so we developed a program to highlight
those sections of greatest interest. And we've added new features that we
think will be extremely helpful."
As the first restaurant company to host a website that has been certified
by the National Federation of the Blind, Legal Sea Foods continues to be an
industry trailblazer. The site exceeds the Section 508 government standard
for full accessibility by people with disabilities. "Our development of an
accessible website is not only good business but it is the right thing to do,"
noted Dr. David Ticchi, Special Assistant to the President. "This move is
indicative of Legal's commitment to our Core Values, and reflects our effort
to be the industry leader in all we do."
The most frequently viewed sections on the former site were the Restaurant
Locator and Careers. Those two pages are prominently displayed on the new
home page. Material embedded within each tab has also been completely
upgraded and expanded. Other entertaining new options include "Featured Fish"
hosted by Rich Vellante, Legal's Executive Chef, and "Featured Wine" presented
by Sandy Block, the company's Master of Wine.
A live Webcam displays the view from Legal's headquarters on the
waterfront in historic Boston Harbor.
Recipes, Legal trivia, and archival photos of the legendary restaurant
company are also available for web users. Planned additions to the new site
include an interactive kids section and a Legal Sea Foods "time Wave"
highlighting milestones in the company's development from tiny local upstart
to dining giant with a national reputation. Legal Sea Foods was named "Most
Popular Restaurant" in Boston by the Zagat Dining Guide for two consecutive
years, "#1 Family Friendly" by Child Magazine, and among Bon Appetit's "Top 10
Tried and True Dining Experiences in America."
Legal Sea Foods, a company known for quality and freshness throughout its
31 East Coast locations, is super-convenient for online shoppers, as well.
The new web design makes it easy to order live lobsters and gourmet seafood
gift packages, which can be shipped overnight anywhere in the continental
United States.
