Level 3 Selected as Official Media and Technology Provider for the 2012 Democratic National Convention Level 3 to Deliver Live Broadcast and Online Streaming of Convention Events
BROOMFIELD, Colo., Aug. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE: LVLT) today announced that is has been selected by the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) to be the Official Media and Technology Provider for the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. from Sept. 4-6. Level 3 will provide a portfolio of Vyvx and Content Distribution services to enable seamless support of this significant event from all three convention locations in Charlotte, including the Time Warner Cable Arena, the Bank of America Stadium and the Charlotte Convention Center.

The 2012 Democratic National Convention is expected to host more than 35,000 people, including the U.S. President, senior leadership of the Party, members of Congress, convention delegates, and national and international media. Tens of millions more will view the broadcast and online streaming of the convention.
Selected as the official live video and content delivery service provider for the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Level 3 helped broadcast the event to a record-breaking viewership of nearly 40 million people. Under the terms of the new agreement, Level 3 will provide dark fiber services, satellite uplink and downlink services via diverse teleports, broadcast distribution, and support of the DNCC website delivery through Intelligent Traffic Management (ITM) and download/caching services. Inherent to the overall solution is the events monitoring and support services, which will support flawless delivery of convention content.
