LG Electronics Prevails in Direct Drive Front-Load Washing Machine Patent Case

WILMINGTON, Del., Nov. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics received a favorable decision in a washing machine patent infringement case tried in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Following a four-day trial, a Delaware jury determined that three LG patents related to direct drive front-load washing machine technology are valid and infringed by Asko/Daewoo.

In a statement, LG said that these three patents involved in the suit have gone through reexamination at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and the jury verdict rendered today is consistent with USPTO's decisions, as well as with rulings on related lawsuits in Germany and Korea. 

The Delaware suit dealt only with liability issues (validity and infringement). The damages and injunction phase still remains, and LG looks forward to presenting its case on these aspects of the suit.
