    CARY, N.C., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Lord Corporation -- a global leader in
coatings technology for the surfaces, panels and flooring industries -- has
announced the acquisition of L/T Technologies, LLC -- a leading manufacturer
of acrylic ultraviolet (UV) and waterborne coatings for wood products.
A joint venture between Lord Corporation and Treffert GmbH and Co. KG, L/T
Technologies specializes in the development, manufacture and distribution of
waterborne and acrylic UV-curable wood coatings for printed composite boards
(PB, HDF, HB), hardwood flooring, linear profiles and door skins, as well as
furniture foils. Located in Cary, N.C. near Lord Corporation's world
headquarters, L/T Technologies will continue to operate from its current
office (118 MacKenan Drive, Suite 200). Further, L/T will remain the exclusive
licensee representing North, Central and South America for the Treffert Group
and their wood finishing technology. As such, L/T retains exclusive rights not
only to existing technology, but also any new developments or advancements.
Steve Howe, L/T Technologies General Manager, said L/T Technologies will
benefit from the solid reputation of Lord Corporation and its commitment to
 state-of-the-art product development.
"We are honored to have the opportunity to partner with members of the
Lord Corporation team," said Howe. "Lord's commitment to research and
development will allow us to continue in our quest to develop and manufacture
optimal solutions for the industries we serve. Further, their global presence
and worldwide manufacturing capabilities will allow us to better serve our
clients with a customized local approach."
L/T Technologies' High Performance Coatings (HPC) are typically applied as
multi-layer systems by roller coating technology and cured by UV energy. The
coatings are either micro-and/or nano-particle modified acrylated resins,
which yield extreme hardness resulting in high mechanical resistance to
 scratch, impact and abrasion.
According to Doug P. Nelson, Technical Sales Manager for L/T Technologies
Wood Flooring Division, HPC offers vast application possibilities in the
wood-based panels industry, such as in wood flooring, doors and panel
"The advantages of HPC include optimal protection of wooden surfaces at
minimum cost while preserving the finished product's reparability as compared
to other finishing technologies," said Nelson. "Off-set printing and lacquer
finish technology has grown in market acceptance and serves as an economical
and durable solution for today's furniture and flooring OEM."
Since its formation in 1924, Lord Corporation has built a leadership role
in a variety of industries. With headquarters in Cary, NC, and sales in excess
of $440-MM, the privately-held company designs, manufactures and markets
