LYSOL NASCAR Sponsorship - A Victory for Fans' Pit Stops

PARSIPPANY, N.J., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- LYSOL(R) today announced that it will educate families at NASCAR(R) races around the country about the importance of disinfection to help protect themselves from germs and the illnesses they cause. LYSOL will activate its sponsorship through comprehensive marketing programs on several levels throughout the year, including customer hospitality, product promotions and at-track marketing.

"We're excited to continue into the 2009 racing season as a proud sponsor," said Ross Ullman, Marketing Director at Reckitt Benckiser. "NASCAR gives us a wonderful opportunity to educate consumers about the important role disinfecting plays in keeping families healthy."

Fans will have the opportunity to visit five "LYSOL Clean" women's bathrooms on-site at nine race events in 2009, each cleaned and maintained by LYSOL Brand ambassadors:

  • Bristol (2 races): Food City 500 3/20-3/22 and Sharpie 500 8/21-8/22
  • Charlotte (2 races): Lowe's All-Star 5/15-5/16 and Lowe's BAC500 10/15-10/17
  • Atlanta: 9/4-9/6
  • New Hampshire: Sylvania 300 9/18-9/20
  • Sonoma: Infineon 6/19-6/21
  • Texas (2 races): Samsung 500 4/3-4/5 and Dickies 500 11/6-11/8

Other elements of the sponsorship include exit samplers at the bathrooms, the distribution of LYSOL coupons, Sprint Vision ads, bathroom signage and the LYSOL logo on fan guide track maps to help identify "LYSOL Clean" bathrooms.

The program was developed and will be executed by GMR Marketing, in conjunction with Catapult Marketing.

LYSOL is in its eighth year as part of the racing program of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates as an associate sponsor. The partnership includes deck lid logo placement all season long on Juan Pablo Montoya's No. 42 Target Chevrolet and a LYSOL primary paint scheme for the October 17 race in Charlotte at Lowes Motor Speedway.

In order to reinforce the importance of disinfection off the tracks, LYSOL and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have partnered to create an online resource www.cdc.gov/ounceofprevention that arms families with information and practical tips to help prevent common illnesses and serious infectious diseases through simple hygiene routines.
