MainStream GS Supports U.S. Disaster Assistance & Recovery Initiative

MainStream GS appointed to strategic working group within U.S. Chamber of Commerce

BETHESDA, Md., June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- MainStream GS, a leading management consulting firm, serving the public sector, focused on building high performance organizations with continuous process improvement (CPI) and program management services, today announced their participation in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) Disaster Assistance and Recovery Working Group. Through its Disaster Assistance and Recovery program, BCLC works with companies and governments to improve the process of community recovery and restoration after disasters. MainStream GS has proven experience providing program management services to enable community's recovery from disasters.

MainStream GS also announced its participation in the BCLC's Back-to-Back Disasters exercise: Recovery on Three Fronts where Disaster Recovery experts such as MainStream GS and other companies and government officials will practice and refine disaster relief and recovery plans when these plans have to be utilized on multiple disaster fronts. The exercise takes place June 18-19 in Washington, DC at U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters.

Commenting on these announcements, MainStream GS President Al Horowitz said, "We are extremely proud to be part of BCLC's Disaster Assistance & Recovery Working Group, and look forward to the June Back to Back Disasters exercise. These events help us share best practices and update plans to meet the challenges ahead." Stephen C. Jordan, Sr. Vice President & Executive Director of the BCLC commented, "As 2008 showed us, disasters are unpredictable. The earthquake in China happened on the heels of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar, and Hurricane Gustav was immediately followed by Hurricane Ike. Having experts such as MainStream GS support the BCLC is extremely valuable."

In 2008 MainStream GS assisted the City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa in their recovery efforts from record floods which hit in June. You can learn more about this by viewing a podcast at: http://vimeo.com/4184076.

MainStream GS is a GSA MOBIS schedule holder for Disaster Recovery and CPI services available to all federal government and state and local government agencies.
