Marcus Jansen's "Frontline Report" at Galleri Urbane in Dallas Texas Galleri Urbane is hosting renown urban expressionst Marcus Jansen's first solo show in Texas called "Frontline Report."
DALLAS, Nov. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Marcus Jansen's work has been described by Art Historian Jerome A. Donson who worked closely with action painters Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline as "reminiscent of the Ash-Can School."
The exhibition will display a selected group of Jansen's two dimensional large and small sweeping urban style works from various stages in 2008 - 2012. For the native New Yorker raised in Germany, critical dialogue stays at the forefront of his work since his early paintings in 1997. Jansen also a combat veteran from the first Gulf War first showed at Madison Square Gardens Film & Art Festival in New York City in 1999 while selling on street corners in Manhattan. Jansen's works can be found in the collections of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA), The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, The PERMM Museum of Contemporary Art in Perm Russia and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art, Taiwan as well as the New Britain Museum of American Art. His recent commission bringing him incresing global attention is the ABSOLUT VODKA for the ABSOLUT BLANK global Campaign where he joins the names of Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and Keith Haring, all who have also been commissioned by the company.
Galleri Director Ree Willaford invited Jansen to show in November at the Gallery. Gallery Urbane est. 1999 represents emerging and established artists living in the U.S, with the primary focus on artists, whose work reflects current art movements both national and internationally, museums, public and private collections throughout the U.S and abroad. Artists such as Michael Berman, Theo Wujcik, Kate Carr , Jessica Drenk and more in painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography and conceptual.
